Picks 05 (continued)

For movies I had lots of picks as well. I narrowed it down to Some Kind of Monster, the Metallica movie. Turns out jillionaire Rock Stars have problems too. Of course I have to mention: Revenge of the Sith. When the credits started I was thinking: I will never see a Star Wars movie for the first time again. Unless ... I get amnesia--something to hope for. Ella Enchanted - why was this movie not a huge hit? It's a very charming fairy tale sort of movie with a major musical interlude featuring a Queen song. How can you beat that? Team America: World Police- the puppet movie must be mentioned. Totally hilarious. And my favorite new obsession: Serenity a movie by Joss-is-my-master-now-Whedon (you know: Buffy, Angel). There was some stupid move where Vin Diesel (Is that his real name?) plays a babysitter or something like that - honestly, I didn't see it but it made over $100M. And Serenity made like $25M. How does this happen?

Serenity is a western in space and it's funny and great characters. It's the only movie I paid to see more than once on big screen besides Revenge of the Sith which I realize is not a recommendation to most of you.

Here's a quote: Captain Malcolm Reynolds: [Over the ship's intercom] This is the captain. We have a little problem with our entry sequence, so we may experience some slight... turbulence and then explode.

It's hilarious in context! I'm going to buy it the second it's on DVD and come and find you and make you watch it. And you will thank me!

My TV shows are still mainly Lost. I also LOVE Veronica Mars. Who was the loser that decided these shows should be on at the same time? Thanks to the magic of DVR, I can tape both simultaneously. I love technology! Also on netflix: Firefly the TV series that was canceled after 15 episodes (and introduces the characters in Serenity, above) while Smallville gets to go on for 5 years. There is something wrong with the world. Also check out Wonderfalls on DVD. Excellent.

As for music, have two bands to tell you about courtesy of a documentary called DIG!. Brian Jonestown Massacre and the Dandy Warhols. Run, don't walk.
